As parents adapt to the needs of their children in this complex and ever-changing world, we offer safe places to explore parenting options. We provide trained facilitators for groups wanting to learn more about the challenging needs of children.
Our trained and supervised facilitators work with parent leaders to form groups where parents like to meet. To form your own parents group in your church, your place of work, or with parents who share similar concerns, call 641-4144 or email Sheila McCormick.
“Family Matters” A Parenting Program for Children’s Place, Inc.
“Family Matters” is a parenting program designed to help parents apply knowledge and skills to their daily parenting for improved family life.
“Family Matters” is for parents who would like to have more positive parenting experiences by increasing their knowledge of child development and increasing their ability to identify and cope with stress in themselves and their child.
“Family Matters” provides help for new parents and grandparents; divorcing and divorced parents; parents under stress or facing a difficult time.
Parenting Assessment
Parenting strengths and skills are assessed as well as family stress and style of interaction so that we can help parents improve their family’s functioning. An individual report is reviewed with the family and a parenting plan is developed.
Parent Education
Parent education is provided for groups or individuals. We match the family’s needs with the education program offered. We can cover selected topics like:
Managing your child’s behavior for healthy development
Parenting partners and parenting together
Parenting for your child’s temperament
Supporting your child’s school performance
“Family Matters” is based on developmental theory and psychological research. Referrals for clinical care are made as needed.
