Drama classes designed to develop social skills in kindergarteners through young adults.
InterACT provides 12 weeks of social skills training for children, and a concurrent support group meeting for parents. Through social acting, participants learn the skills necessary to successfully interact with peers and adults while increasing self-esteem and building friendships in a safe, fun, inclusive environment. Additionally, we will use behavior management techniques that utilize applied behavioral analysis.
We incorporate the help of many professionals whose areas of specialization may include education, social work, speech therapy, occupational therapy, physical therapy, counseling, human development, behavioral interventions and developmental differences. Children will be observed during the program by these professionals, and parents may be informed of additional resources, and/or additional behavioral interventions may be suggested.
We will also use mentor volunteers that will be a partners with your children.
Components of the program:
- 12 - week sessions that meet weekly during the Fall and Spring
- Visual arts sibling group
- Parent support group
- High school and college mentor for each child
- Participant Dinner Theater variety show and gallery display twice a year
