"We really appreciate the community," said Children's Place Executive Director Peggy Ford. "We wouldn't be here without this community. For Lionel Smith to Chalk it Up for Dads is real important to us, because mothers and fathers are really important in children's lives. To have this event that highlights fathers is really important."
“May is Mental Health Awareness Month in the United States. Children's Place of Aiken County seeks to improve awareness about how mental health can affect children, especially those that come from abusive homes.”
“The Children’s Place has a mission to help kids with trauma, disorders and mental illness. And the half-century mark has them ready for their next adventure in their new home coming soon.”
“It’s not every day when a nonprofit turns 50 in this day and age, when nonprofits live hand to mouth and it’s hard to make ends meet,” said Ford, who has been the director of Children’s Place since 1989. “I’m truly proud that we’re still here and still serving the original mission.”
“We are proud to offer this nationally and internationally recognized evidence-based program to help local families who want to make the commitment to strengthen their family,” said Peggy Ford, director of Children’s Place. “SFP provides opportunities and skills for families – many of whom are struggling – to improve their own lives and meet the goals they set as a family.”
“The Smith Group has been a wonderful friend to Children’s Place,” Children’s Place Director Peggy Ford said. “We are so very thankful for their continued support and generosity.”
As always, the Aiken community pulled together to show tremendous support for Children's Place, and we THANK YOU!
